The SMA Trust - Dedicated To Finding A Cure

The SMA Trust is a UK registered charity working to fund medical research into Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).

The SMA Trust’s objective remains constant: to be active and progressive in the search for a cure for Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Methods to halt and/or alleviate the disease are also sought in order to treat both children and adults with SMA to make their lives, and the lives of their families, more fulfilling. Additionally, the Trust involves itself, informally, with helping to create connections between research organisations internationally, and aims to make useful introductions within the SMA community. The SMA Trust is involved with numerous research projects in the UK, on the Continent and the USA (click here to read about the Trust’s current research projects). The charity has recently launched a new appeal, the momentum Campaign, to raise £2 million for research into SMA. Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is currently untreatable. However, there is a deepening sense of hope in the SMA community. Strong and worldwide foundations have been laid by researchers for the development of clinical trials and treatment. Sufferers, families, and their supporters are increasingly aware of the quickening pace of advances in research. Now is the time to build, gain and maintain the momentum of this research. Please see our fundraising page to find out how you can help.
